There are four divisions within the Waste Services Department: Administration, Landfill Operations, Engineering and Compliance, and Programs. The fees collected are used to maintain the landfill and equipment, as well as support all Waste Services programs. The department works to manage Escambia County waste in an economically and environmentally sound manner and receives no county tax dollars.
The Escambia County Waste Services Department operates two facilities open to the public: the Perdido Landfill and the Oak Grove Citizens’ Convenience Center. Escambia County has independent residential waste services providers.
Emphasis is placed on providing the citizens and businesses of Escambia County with a safe, efficient and environmentally sound waste/trash disposal system. A landfill is an ever-changing environment adapting to the needs of the community.
