Escambia County has held two public meetings regarding the Pensacola Beach Congestion Management Plan, a project that aims to develop a long-term capital improvement plan to relieve traffic congestion on Pensacola Beach. The project also includes the implementation and planning of short-term improvements that have been identified to provide immediate congestion relief over the next several years as long-term projects are developed and funded through the Pensacola Beach Congestion Management Plan.

On April 28, 2016, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners held a public kick-off meeting for the Pensacola Beach Congestion Management Plan. More than 100 people attended, including residents, business owners and other concerned citizens. The open house format began with a short video that gave a brief overview of the project. Attendees were then invited to share their insights with county consultants, both one-on-one and in small groups.
