NRDA is the process to evaluate the impacts to natural resources and lost use of those resources by humans. What is the purpose of NRDA? The purpose of this NRDA process is to quantify injuries to our natural resources, the subsequent loss of the resource services, and the time for the natural resources to recover as a result from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The outcome of the NRDA process is a restoration plan or series of plans that will compensate the public for natural resource injuries and lost use of those resources (loss of use includes use by other natural resources and by people). Projects submitted for evaluation are required to be directly tied to an injury suffered. For example, during periods of fishery closure, people were not able to access the Gulf fishery resource. As a result the County is requesting projects to improve water access to boaters and to improve fishery habitat. County Project Categories The table below represents categories and rough budges of projects that have been submitted to NOAA and the State of Florida for consideration. Each category may have many specific projects within the category or may be under development.
