Community & Environment

Community & Environment provides a diverse array of vital programs to the community. Service and assistance epitomize our mission to the citizens of Escambia County.

Community Affairs. The Division of Community Affairs includes external branches of the West Florida Regional Library System, Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) as well as the internal branches of the Animal Shelter and Community Services.

Escambia Extension. Escambia County Extension provides practical, how-to education based on scientific research conducted by the University of Florida. Educational programs include agriculture, marine sciences, family and consumer sciences, horticulture, natural resources and water quality, energy and windstorm protection, 4-H and other exciting youth programs.

Neighborhood Redevelopment. Neighborhood Redevelopment manages the county's environmental and natural resource programs, including Community Redevelopment, Natural Resource Conservation, Water Qualityand Land Management, and Marine Resources.

Solid Waste Management. The mission of Solid Waste Management is to serve the citizens and businesses by providing environmental responsible and economical municipal solid waste disposal and recycling services. In addition, the division is responsible for many youth education programs and holds tours of the Perdido Landfill operations.
